Dear people,

Hope everybody is doing fine and enjoying the warmer and lighter days, we indeed are here in Sunny Suffolk!

Me and Tommi also had a little holiday and spent 5 days in New York. It was a lovely trip and everything went well. We had booked the Kennels for Miihkali, but only days before we were supposed to fly my dad called me and asked if I he could come over to look after Miihkali for us! So I booked the flights for him and a couple of days later he was here. The amazing thing is that his flights were actually cheaper than putting Miihkali in the kennels… The daily charge is fairly reasonable, around £14 for a day, but I also pay for him to be picked up and dropped off and it all adds up.

Dad and Miihkali got on brilliantly and they did 6-8 hour walks every day! During those walks Miihkali got to swim, play with loads of dogs and even chase some rabbits – something he has never got to do before as there are no rabbits in our most local parks.

I forgot to tell my dad that lots of people like to stop you when you walk with a curly-coated retriever and ask questions about him - and since my dad only speaks little English there were some interesting situations! I was actually going to give him a piece of paper with all the breed details written down but forgot about it.

He managed to tell more or less everyone who stopped him that this is a very special breed indeed, so much so that no puppies are available and you can’t get them anywhere! And of course there are curly puppies, not many but some every year, so hopefully people who genuinely are interested will do some further research on this 8)

They also met a lovely lady in one of the parks. She was enjoying a sandwich in a nearby bench and every now and then looked at Miihkali who was happily wondering around the area.  When she had half-eaten the sandwich she got up and walked to my dad, and started reading out the ingredients in the package. Dad just stood there listening and when the lady had stopped reading she asked if she could now give the leftovers to Miihkali as there was nothing harmful in it. Dad just nodded and she went ahead. And Miihkali enjoyed, of course!

I also got inspired by their walks (and the exhausted dog) and have been taking Miihkali further and further away for walks discovering new parks and places in Ipswich area.  Next week I’m having some days off and was planning to get the train to some smaller villages outside of Ipswich as they have some fantastic fields and paths to explore.

Miihkali is also moulting at the moment and there is hair everywhere. I have been giving him Yumega Oil for almost two months now and it has made a difference, the shedding is nowhere near as bad as it has been before. His coat also remains curlier now, whereas before it got much straighter when he shed and took ages to get back to the thick curly mass.

Of course swimming also helps, he has been swimming every day now and not only it helps to keep the coat curly but also helps to remove all the dead hair and makes him feel better.
