I was working all Christmas so we decided to celebrate the New Year instead. All of us had loads to eat including Miihkali, who had some freshly cooked pork and turkey for three days! He was obviously very  happy, and got even happier when it was time to give all the presents in the evening. He got lots of things from us and our families in Finland, and got all excited opening the presents! The best part was to tear and chew up the wrapping paper, never mind the actual things inside he was meant to enjoy! He walked around picking up every single piece of wrapping paper he could find and made sure every piece was no bigger than a finger nail.
Once he had completed that job, it was time for him to investigate what he had actually got. He had a new rubber pig as the old one sadly died about two months ago. This one makes a real pig sound as well - and Miihkali can’t get enough of him!  He also got a rubber dino which obviously has not been quite that special as it only makes the usual squeaky noises and has been sitting behind the sofa ever since the new years day...
There were also lots of goodies and some gorgeous pork treats from my mom, Miihkali absolutely loved them! I also got him a large bone.  He has started to chew bones more often now and the small ones only last so long. This one is huge so hopefully will also last longer.

Otherwise we have all been fine, Tommi stayed home for almost two weeks during the Christmas period so Miihkali hasn’t been on his own at all recently. He is enjoying having all family here most of the time and has been very good.
We also had some snow and that  made him so excited! We went to the park yesterday and there was snow all over the ground and kids with their sledges. Miihkali tried to eat as much snow as possible, and when it started snowing again while we were still out he desperately tried to catch all the snowflakes! He rolled over in the white ground as well which he didn’t do last easter when we had snow. He clearly enjoyed it so hopefully it will last at least a couple of days now.

We also went to the Chantry Park where we met a huge irish wolfhound called Paddy. He was a lovely and gentle boy, very nice and he had a good play with Miihkali as well. I don’t think Miihkali has ever met a dog that big, the largest one was the great dane last summer.
After a play Miihkali jumped into the pond, although it was frozen and must have been very, very cold!!!  There he was, happily swimming in the middle of all the ice looking very pleased with himself. Luckily he was running off the lead all the time so although it was a very cold day he did dry up relatively quickly and didn’t shiver once. He was knackered when we got home after a three hour walk (and swim), and just curled up in his bed looking very happy.

The only worrying thing now is that Miihkali still gets lots of bruises and wounds everywhere. I found one yesterday, and I swear it wasn’t there after our walk in the park as I now regularly check him after longer walks. We had a little walk later last night and he was on the lead all the time, and when I got home and noticed this hairless patch on his back, just before his tail. When I investigated, I noticed there was a fairly large scab that just peeled off taking the hair with it! So now he has got a hairless patch almost two inches big. Not very nice. I really wanted to know what is causing all these things, as he always seems to have something going on... Will keep an eye on it now to see what happens.

My brother and his mate are coming over soon, and I will have almost two weeks holiday then as well. Hopefully you all have been fine and had a lovely Christmas. Will be back soon!

Happy New Year to all!!!
